Rock On, Phoebe!

Yikes- she's a rockin', rollin' guitar playin', motorcyclin' momma! Watch out, world- here she comes!

"I Wanna Rock and Roll ALL NIGHT..."

Whoa. Phoebe may be a rock star someday! I showed her where the rock n' roll dress up clothes were, and she was off and running- spinning, dancing, rocking out- she would have made Uncle Mark AND Gene Simmons proud!

Dinosaurs, Cars, & Guitars!

The outside dinosaurs were a little too scary for Phoebe (just the like the inside ones- we had to skip the Dinosphere again), but the new Cars & Guitars exhibit was a hit! This exhibit is a pop culture tribute to the roots of rock n' roll, with...you guessed it...cars and guitars! There were interactive stations where the kids could do karaoke, hit the dance floor, and more! Phoebe took Joe for a ride in the hot rod, too- watch out, Papa, she's coming for your Porsche next!

Children's Museum: Outside

Much to Phoebe's delight, today we took a look at some of the statues outside of the Children's Museum!

Morning Walk Surprise

We went for an early morning walk the day after the 4th since everyone was still asleep...NOT Phoebe and Joe, the earliest birds I know...and we came across this little friend on the way back to the house! He was making his way across Papa's street, slowly but surely, and we had plenty of time to run back to the house to get the camera (you can see that Phoebe was in a big rush here). When I pulled the wagon over to get a closer look, Phoebe said, "Turtle is scummy- turtle take a shower!" :)

Goodbye, 4th of July!

Mmm hmm...that's the look that says a spankin' ain't far away...time to go home and go to bed!

Going Crazy on the 4th...

This was about the point in the day when Phoebe started to...unravel...as you can tell by the glazed expression on her face in the third picture down...she was relegated to staying on the deck, which she took to the limit...she would stretch all the way out so that only one toe was on the deck to see if we would notice if she snuck off...the first picture is her shock that we did indeed notice and we were onto her tricks...then she had to play "Save the Phoebe" with Papa to entertain us all...

More Fun at the Pool

Uncle Carl, the cousins, Mommy, Daddy, and Bubba all had fun with you in the pool, Phoebe! Just kick back and relax!

Pool Party!!!

Phoebe was in her element in Grammy's pool! It was the perfect temperature, there were plenty of toys, and there were lots of people in the water to cater to her every pool-party whim! She amazed us all when we put swimmies on her and "let go:" she did a sort of doggie paddle right over to the side of the pool! Can't WAIT till she turns three so she can take real swim lessons! She'll be like a little fish!

End of the Parade...For Us!

Phoebe got to go and catch some candy, just like Papa taught her to! She also got to run up and take a picture of Andrew, who was coming through in the Wolf Pack Marching Band! Then it was time to head back to the big pool party at Grammy's house to COOL OFF!

Parade Pictures

The kids were craning their necks, trying to see all the cool parade happenings at once! Phoebe was really pumped about the "sparkly float" that the YMCA had, and then Daddy got us a chocolate skae to share, which was a BIG hit with the kids! Then Phoebe and I ran up to take pictures of Elin as she went by in the LPHS Marching Band (playing the sax, on the right)!

4th of July Parade

Aside from the intense heat, the big La Porte 4th of July Parade was a great time! We sat right next to the ice cream shop (the first good idea!), and there was a rock band set up in the parking lot, playing classic hits. Phoebe couldn't help but dance and sing in the streets- and who could blame her? When the parade finally started, the kids got all riled up- especially Phoebe, and especially about ALL the fire trucks! (She went to bed that night asking to read a book about a fire truck, and has been on the lookout for fire trucks ever since!)
