Fancy Thursday

Well, I just had to put these on the blog- the four pigtails are too fun! I was looking in Phoebe's closet on Thursday morning, thinking, "Jeez- you have about a hundred dresses, but you only wear them on Sundays...hmmm..." So we decided to put on a cute dress and be fancy on Thursday! :) Daddy called and said that he needed some new Phoebe photos for his computer at work, so we pulled out the camera and this is what we got! Apparently we need to get fancied up more often!

TV's SOOO Exciting!

Here's Pheebs watching- yep, you guessed it- Pooh! Just had to get a quick video of her experiencing the "exciting parts" of the movie!

Just Hanging Out, Figuring Out How to Use My Hands, No Biggie

This is just a clip of PB sitting in her seat, doing what she does at 6 months: trying to figure out how her hands work, what her pacifier can do, and how to grab her feet. Probably not too exciting unless you're Mommy, Daddy, or possibly a greandparent! :)

Shark Girl Strikes Again!

Here's the clip that shows Phoebe chomping away...cue Jaws music... oh wait, that's Mommy with the cackling in the background... :)

Phoebe's First Time in the Pool!!

PB at the Pool Party

Here's our big girl, bee-bopping around in the pool with Daddy! This was PB's first experience in the pool- and she did an awesome job! (Truth be told, she barely batted an eye when Matt lowered her into the water...that may have been because we talked Grampa Dunlap into cranking the pool temperature up to about 86 degrees...anyhow...) The funniest thing was when Matt held her out on her stomach- she started kicking her legs and moving her arms like she had been swimming her whole life! She also kept chomping her jaws and kind of looked like a little Phoebe-shark...not sure what that was about, but it sure was cute! Phoebe was much braver than Mommy. (I spent my time standing in the shallow end, begging Daddy to get away from the deep end, wringing my hands and what-not.) But PB was a natural- Daddy, can we get a pool at our house? :)

Random Photos from LP Visit

Here are a few random photos from the weekend- we were up in La Porte for Grammy Dunlap's birthday party. Phoebe sported a "cool 'do"- four pigtails! She was a big hit up in La Porte, from the pool to the prunes to the pigtails to the pajamas- she sure had lots of adoring fans up there! :)

Funny Faces

I just wanted to show these off because Phoebe had the cutest expressions on her face here! Doesn't she look like she is just plotting something sneaky? What a cutie pie!

6 Months Old!?!

Ok, yikes! Is Phoebe really going to be six months old on Tuesday? Time flies, huh? Look at this kid- what happened to our little baby- that little curled up bean who never opened her eyes? She's such a doll- and check out that awesome quilt in the background- that's pretty nice too! :) Many thanks to Beth, as usual, for her amazing photography skills!! Half a year old...wow...

Father's Day Fun

Here are a few photos from Father's Day- we spent the day relaxing aroiund the house- just what Daddy wanted! Matt made biscuits and gravy for us, which we ate while wearing our matching shirts: Boo-Boo, Doo-Doo, and Moo-Moo! Then Matt opened his presents, and we just laid around and watched TV all day! Other highlights of the day included Phoebe's first tasting of prunes, which she seemed to love! We took off her shirt in anticipation of the prune mess, and it got stuck on her head, which was of course so cute we had to snap a photo- our little Muffin Man! And later in the day I put her hair in pigtails for the first time, which was SOOOO cute! (Pigtails look better than the mullet, hands downs!) So that was Matt's fun filled, action packed first Father's Day!

Uncle Nick & Auntie Am Bring Me Presents!

Here are a few photos of Phoebe playing with the new toys Uncle Nick and Auntie Am brought over- a honey pot with Winnie the Pooh finger puppets inside! I can tell that this is going to be one of her favorites- thank you!

Cranky funk, spit up, blow outs, and tantrums...ah, to be a parent! :)

To look at this picture, you would think that Phoebe is just a happy little sweetheart, wouldn't you? Don't be fooled... she is in another cranky funk: all week she's been cranky, fussy, not eating quite right, protesting nap time with a vengence, and just generally is not her normal happy self. She isn't sick or anything- just a little off. She had about a two week period of this sort of behavior about a month or so ago (see earlier post regarding the Kraken), and then at the end of the two weeks she slept for almost a whole day and was back to normal again! We think it's either a growth spurt or she may be teething, who knows. But anyhow, she was kind of a mess all weekend. Beth and I went out to lunch to Mongolian BBQ on Saturday- what a trip THAT was! First Phoebe was a crank-butt because she was getting hungry, so I fed her her bottle while I waited up at the grill station for my food. When we got back to the table I was burping her, and the waitress came by and said, "Oh, she's drooling on you," so I looked and there was spit up running down the front of Phoebe, down the back of me, on my chair, and collecting in a puddle on the floor. Awesome! So I took off my sweater, blotted up Phoebe, and plunged ahead with the rice cereal. Beth and I laughed that off, and continued chatting and eating while I fed Phoebe her rice cereal and squash...which was apparently too much for her, she had to make a little room...because she took this giant nasty dump at the table. She was grunting, groaning, turning red, eyes bugging out, traumatizing Beth while she tried to eat- it was a good thing it was loud in there, otherwise the other customers would have been disgusted! She finally got done with that, and I jokingly (and sheepishly) said, "Well that was quite the blow out, huh!" and as I moved my hand, I realized that it actually HAD blown out- out the side of the diaper and all over my hand! Great! I had to plug the side of the diaper with napkins to make it to the bathroom without any further leakage- good thing I have everything under the sun in the old diaper bag, huh? When that stinky disaster was over, we made it back to the table just in time for Phoebe to go nuclear- it was nap time, duh, and of course she couldn't just fall peacefully asleep! No no- instead, she growled, snarled, screamed, cried, punched and kicked and thrashed about while Beth stared at her with her mouth hanging open like "What happened to Phoebe and who is this freak baby?" I, smiling all the while, suggested that it may be time to take our leave. :) And wouldn't you know it- we weren't but 10 feet out the door and Phoebe was fast asleep? Sigh...Beth said, "I can't believe you're taking this so calmly!" Ah- my clever disguise worked, did it? :) Just kidding- I love every minute of Phoebe-ville- even the crazy ones like this! The picture here was taken on Sunday after church- we had New Member Sunday, where I had to go up and be officially- publicly- received into the church after my transfer a few months ago. Phoebe was Kraken-er-ific during new member orientation and the first half of the service- Matt had to walk around with her for at least 20 minutes until she passed out, then got reawakened by the organ playing, then walk around another 10 minutes, sneak back into the pew...you get the idea. But she was just fine when I had to go up front and shake the pastor's hand and what-not, so that was good. She is such a sweetheart- but I hope that this super-funk is over soon so she can get back to her happy-go-lucky little self!

Some June Photos

Here is a little hodge-podge of photos we've taken over the past wek or so. First we have Phoebe in the Bumbo chair- she hasn't wanted to sit in this much lately, but it's supposed to be helpful in teaching her to sit up on her own, so I've been giving it a try every week to see if she's interested in sitting in it. When she does, she usually just stares at this toy like, what is that thing? But when I plopped her in there the other day, she immediately grabbed it and started turning all the parts and batting at it! Yay Pheebs! Next, as you can see, Phoebe has found her toes! This is one of her favorite things to do now: lay on her back and play with her toes. She likes to chew on them too, but I didn't catch that on film...yet! Next is a photo of Phoebe helping Daddy study- she's so cute when she sits there with him while he's reading- she puts her hands up on the table and stares intently at his laptop and books, like she really is trying to help! Next is a photo that I had to include because it was so bizarre- we've had bad storms coming through for the last few weeks, and last Friday we were all geared up for another rough one- the sky was dark, the clouds were swirling, and it was looking pretty dicey out there. But it ended up blowing right past us, and all we got was a little rain and thunder and lightning- but then the sky did this at sunset. It looked like a forest fire was happening behind the houses- we'd never seen anything like it! And last but not least, here's Phoebe on Sunday with her first experience with a sippee cup! What a big girl! We had two of these cups in the cupboard, all washed and ready to go, so we figured what the heck? Let's see if she can drink out of a sippee cup! I was all ready to grab the cup when she dropped it, but she clamped right onto the handles and didn't let go until she was done! I only had to help her tip it back towards the end- hmph! This little girl is growing up too fast...thinks she doesn't need her Mommy...sleeping in her crib...drinking out of sippee cups...hmph! :)

Fake Camping

Here is Phoebe on her first camping experience...note the hat to keep the ticks off her head...ok, so it was fake camping, as in we weren't going to "camp," as in stay the night outside- we met up with Dad & Deb, who were camping at Summit Lake, to cook out with them at their camp site. Then Phoebe and I were going to head back home- these city slickers weren't quite ready for a night in the wilderness...but that isn't the way things worked out anyways, now was it? It turned out that some really bad weather came through, so everyone broke camp and headed back to our house to ride out the storm. It's a good thing, too- it was the worst storm I've ever seen! Phoebe and I got into bomb-shelter-mode, our patio furniture blew across the deck, and we lost power for the night! So this little fake camping experience was about all we needed of the wilderness and outdoors, huh Pheebs?

Phoebe, the Perplexed Elf

I just think this is the funniest picture- Phoebe looks like a perplexed little elf! This is just one of many pictures that crack me up lately, because her little personality is starting to emerge- she's babbling on and on, growling, smiling, laughing, grabbing things, taking an interest in playing with- and battering- her toys, and likes to watch the dogs play on the floor from her high chair. Plus, she does NOT look like a little baby any more- she looks like a little kid- yikes! Little baby-pie is growing up!!

Funny Stuff, Chuckle Chuckle

Here's Phoebe laughing- chuckling like a kid in a candy store! I guess I had the camera angled wrong, cause the floor isn't really that interesting, but the sound is the best part anyways. Enjoy!
