Bird Watching

Just a few shots of Phoebe bird watching in the backyard after church this morning: bird watching around our house consists of climbing on top of the playset, pointing at the sky, yelling, "Bird!" or "Where'd it go?", pointing at birds, waving at birds, throwing kisses to birds, etc. Very cute!

Tuttle Orchard

Here we are at Tuttle Orchard, havin' fun, pickin' apples, ridin' tractors...besides the hotter-than-expected weather, we had a good time with Uncle Mike and Auntie Beth at the orchard!!

Washington Park Zoo

It's official: Phoebe has Grampa wrapped around her little finger, and she ain't lettin' go! She spent 95% of our trip to the zoo in Grampa's arms- everytime he tried to set her down, she yelled, screamed, and raised up her arms with that pitiful face until he picked her up again...which was immediately...poor Grampa, you're gonna be in for it when she turns 16 and says, "But Grampa, can't I puh-lease borrow the Porsche?" :)

Phoebe Loves Apples!

So apparently Phoebe likes apples now...she polished off several of the apples we picked at the Apple Festival, taking these itty-bitty bites out and dramatically saying, "Yum Tum!" after each bite! She walked all over the house, toting her apple, taking little bites, keeping Grampa company while he made his famous waffles, offering to share, saying "Wanna bite?" It was too funny!

Garwoods Apple Festival

Here we are at the Apple Festival at Garwoods with Grammy and Grampa! Phoebe liked picking apples...though the whole experience would have been much better if Phoebe had had a nap...as it was, we had a good time anyways! She wanted to carry around her own little apple that she had picked, Grampa had fun selecting- and sampling- the apples, Joey just kind of hung out and accepted compliments on how cute he is, and Grammy kept track of where the horses were...or so she'd have Phoebe believe... :)

Washington Park

Here we are at Washington Park with Grammy and Grampa- Phoebe didn't know what to think of Lake Michigan!! She just stood there, staring out at the water, watching the waves roll in...she would inch a little closer to the water, then a little closer, then high tail it out of there when a wave got too close for comfort! She enjoyed chasing sea gulls with Grampa, as well as picking up driftwood, looking at the boats in the marina, and gazing out at the lighthouse. She also ran Grampa ragged at the playground, and wanted to chase geese all day long!

First Swim Lesson: NOT FUN

OK, so here was the problem: Phoebe was due for a nap, could have done with a snack, and was cranky before we even left the house (as you can see by the crying and tantrum photos below). Then I thought it would be a good idea to get into the pool early to get used to the water, etc. WRONG! Once I realized that Phoebe only had 10 minutes worth of patience and fun-having-attitude left for the pool, the 10 minutes was up and it was time for class to start...oh boy...I was THAT mother, you know, the one with the screaming kid who thinks the kid is gonna come out of it and have fun, but the kid doesn't, and the mom is wrestling the little welp, and everyone else is like jeez lady, control your kid, but the mom thinks if she powers through for just another minute it will be over and fun will be had by all, but then it doesn't end...sigh...I suppose it wasn't really that bad...when Phoebe was able to do whatever she wanted in the pool, everything was sunshine and lollipops...it was only when it came time to actually DO THE ACTIVITIES the instructors had planned that it all went to you-know-what. The highlight of the experience was when Phoebe continually flushed the toliet and then stuck her hand in the toliet water while I was trying to get dressed...throw up in my mouth...and then you can see there that she's all wrapped up in her towel, completely spent...fun times...

Lickin' the Beaters

Grandma Adams let Phoebe have her first experience with licking icing off beaters- it was a big hit!

3-Wheeler Video!!

There she is, waving at the crowd like a movie star- she thought she was somethin' special up there on that 3-wheeler!

3-Wheeler- Weeeeeee!!

Thanks, Uncle Nick, for taking Phoebe on her first 3-wheeler ride!! (Thank you also for making it a short ride, and for keeping it in first gear!) :)

Little Friends Gift Part 1

Grammy had been collecting "Little Friends" for Phoebe for months, and finally found the perfect little container for them: a Tinkerbell lunch box! Here is her reaction to the present- had to shoot it in three parts because Joey was getting close to his nap time, and I wasn't holding him, and, well, you'll hear him in the background and see why I had to keep shutting off the camera! :)

Zoo Last Week

Here we are at our most recent trip to the zoo: Phoebe petting a snake- Grammy, avert your eyes! She had the biggest grin on her face when she touched the snake too! Then we have Phoebe trying to feed pretzles to the goats, which is NOT allowed! Phoebe pretending to be a monkey on the jungle gym- doing a good job of it too! Then she is watching the gibbons, in the last picture, as they jumped around and made loud noises (like Phoebe needs any encouragement in THAT department!) Another fun day at the zoo!!
