Crash and Burn

Phoebe had a great Thanksgiving Day: lots of attention, lots of good food, lots of doing whatever she wanted, lots of sweets...and no nap, so she had unraveled, crashed, and burned by about six o'clock!

Turkey Day: Great Success!

Yippee yay for Turkey Day! Everything turned out greta from our big made-from-scratch Thanksgiving dinner (if I do say so myself!) Aside from a couple snafus, like the pumpkin pie being a little salty and the sweet potato casserole being a little overdone- I think things went over pretty well. Everybody ate a lot, laughed a lot, and had a good time- so hooray! :)

Phoebe Hearts Horses

Here she is in her super-cute shawl and church outfit...and the first thing she does when we get home from church? Head to the rocking horse, of course!

My Explorers

Daddy and Phoebe, pith helmets on, watching Dora the Explorer...so cute! "Swiper no swiping! Swiper no swiping! Oh, man!"

Couple More LP Pics

...and Phoebe watching her "shows" from under Joey's bouncer, with her fake remote control...and Phoebe and Daddy at my party!

Last La Porte Visit

Here are some random shots from our last week in La Porte: Phoebe studying one of my birthday cards at my party, Phoebe and Grampa in the Oompa Loompa machine- with it's fancy new all-weather cover, of course! And a picture of how Phoebe started most of her days at Grampa's house: before she even came out to get her breakfast, she had to ride (or just sit) on the Wonder Horse and watch a little TV, or as she calls it, "shows." :)

Ride 'em, Phoebe!

Wonder Horse!!

Grampa and Grammy Dunlap got Phoebe a Wonder Horse just like the one I had as a kid- mine was named Star- and it was a BIG hit! They "hid" it under a sheet in the middle of the room, just like they did for me when I was Phoebe's age. Legend has it that I looked all around, missing the giant sheet-covered suprise for the longest time...apparently Phoebe is a little quicker on the uptake than her mommy, cause she ran straight to this! :) I wish I would have taken video of her "finding" the Wonder Horse, because she got so excited she just stood there waving her arms up and down and didn't know what to do with herself for a minute! Good job on a perfect gift, Grampa and Grammy!

Passing Out the Candy

Here we are passing out (and sampling) the candy! We only had a few trick or treaters this year, and poor Phoebe kept standing at the door, saying "kids?" in this sad little voice. She felt better, though, when she had her first candy bar: a Baby Ruth.

MORE?!

Phoebe's still working on her manners...

Trick or Treating

We went trick or treating in Nick and Amber's neighborhood this year- there are a lot more kids in their neighborhood. We had been helping Phoebe practice saying "Trick or Treat," which just sounded like "triereat" when she said it, and then "thank you" when someone puts something in the bucket, and she did a great job at the real thing...except that when she got her candy, instead of saying thank you, she'd say, "More?" and then try to grab more candy! Joey was much more polite...

Trick or Treat Party at MaryJane's House

Here we are at Uncle Nick and Aunt Amber's house for their Trick or Treat party! We are the Australians: Safari woman, koala (or serial killer, not sure), and the two kangaroos! Amber was a cat, Nick was...a Colts fan? And cutie pie MaryJane was a sweet little lamb!

Happy Halloween at the Zoo!

We had been planning to go to ZooBoo on the day before Halloween, but we got rained out. So we decided to go on Halloween- what better way to celebrate than to play all the Halloween games ON Halloween, right? Wrong. Get there, found out ZooBoo ended the day BEFORE Halloween. Go figure. Oh well- the kids didn't know any different- in fact, Joey slept the ENTIRE time we were there (maybe because he was so bundled up, and I had a blanket tied over his carrier...) and we had a blast anyways. We did a "nature walk," since the trees all looked so pretty, and collected pretty leaves and seed pods- or, in Phoebe-speak, "seepoes!" We had our picnic lunch inside, and played at the playground with other costumed kids. Phoebe has officially mastered all slides at the playground, so that was fun to watch. Another perk was that the cold weather made the sea lions and the bears very playful and vocal- Phoebe enjoyed watching them both and making growling noises at them. So the Halloween zoo trip was different than planned, but not a bust after all!!
